The aim of our initiative is to mobilize additional innovative forces in an area of technology that is key to the competitiveness and growth of German industry – that of new materials – in order to significantly shorten the time to market and thus make a contribution to safeguarding the future of Germany as a location for industrial production, along with its jobs and the prosperity of the people working there.

At the same time, the innovative solutions will help enhance the quality of life and the sustainability of our society – for example, by making significant contributions to solving urgent problems in the fields of environmentally friendly and climate-compatible mobility and energy supply.

To achieve these goals, we want to utilize a balanced mix of basic research and application-oriented, practical and innovative technologies to establish a key market for the technology of carbon nanotubes in Germany, and enable it to serve as a global leader in the field of innovative carbon nanomaterials. To carefully control the establishment of the lead market for carbon nanotubes, the alliance will focus not only on the basic technologies for the production, functionalization and dispersion of the CNTs, but also on specialist applications in the fields of energy and the environment, mobility and lightweight construction. This is precisely where the major challenges lie, ranging from climate protection and the careful management of natural resources to questions of modern, energy-efficient mobility.

Over and above that, the aim is to stimulate the general public's interest in the subject through extensive communication activities. This is important in order to make young people enthusiastic about high-tech "made in Germany", and to create attractive career opportunities. Against the backdrop of the expected impetus that this will give Germany as a manufacturing location, we want Inno.CNT to make the general public more aware of Germany's innovative strength, and to create a positive spirit of starting out into something new.
